My Definition of Literacy

In my opinion, literacy refers to the comprehensive ability to interpret and make textual and visual argument. To a great extent, it depends on how well the person knows the language and the social conventions. In that sense, one with excellent literacy of his/her native language may be found completely illiterate to another language and culture. To acquire literacy of a certain kind, one has to spend years to learn the language, as well as the culture.
